Three Things in one day

I have Season 3 of Psych in the DVD player and a Coke in my hand. Since it is a dreary, rainy afternoon I thought I'd try to get back into 23 Things too. I am happy that I just did Things 6, 7, & 8 in a few hours. It didn't take hours to do, I just had to squeeze them in between laundry, my dog who wants to be pet constantly today, dishes, and getting snacks for my always-hungry children.

This is the guy who is stopping me from moving on to Things 9 & 10:

I originally planned to get all 23 Things done over Christmas break. Last Christmas break. Now my goal is to get is all done before this Christmas break :)

Thing 8

Spell with Flickr:

letter M C G letter E E

This is really cool. I would like to use it for labels and such - even in the classroom.

The color picker is neat, but I don't know when or how I would use it.

Hmmm, I made a map...
States we have visited so far...

And I played with some of the other stuff - above. I am glad that I know these tools are available. It will be fun to see what I can do with my own photos and also how I can use them in my classroom.

Thing 7

I uploaded 9 photos from out summer road trip to Flickr. This summer we went to Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, and Ohio. In 12 days. It was amazing! One of my former students went with us, so for the first time I have a lot of photos of me and both kids. You can see the three of us in some of our stops here:

I'm not sure how I can use Flickr in the classroom. But maybe an idea will come to me as I continue to explore the site.

Thing 6

I know many people who use Flickr, but I have never really understood the reason for it. Now, though, I see that it is a great way to share photos with family and friends. But, more importantly, it is a great for bloggers.

It is a rainy autumn day today, so I searched "autumn" and found this photo. I love the view point, the mist, and the fall colors popping in the forest.

I don't know that I will use Flickr very often. But I am glad I can use it if needed!

Thing 5

I subscribed to a few blogs, a few new and a few old favs. I have been following Matt Logelin and a few other single parents for over a year now. But I decided to look for some education blogs. I was a little disappointed in my searches - most are techie blogs. In hindsight, I suppose this isn't surprising. I have heard about a few teachers across the country who have lost their jobs because of their blogs. But I did find a few that look interesting, and it is now my mission to find more.

I don't think that this world of RSS feeds are difficult or confusing. It is merely a way to stay informed. I am wondering, though, if I will be able to check my Bloglines account from a school computer? One of the blogs has some photo writing prompts I would like to use in the classroom...

Thing 4

Finally, a new Thing. I was starting to worry about finishing this course!

Well, I signed up for Bloglines. I am not sure why we are using this site instead of Google Reader, since we had to get Google accounts to start the course. But oh well.

I am hoping that this account does make my interweb life less chaotic. I do follow several blogs, and just being able to check one spot to get all updates seems like a great idea.
